Time ticks away as Naruto gets all tense. Finally, the 10th question is about to be given. Ibiki then gives a last rule, the "hopeless rule". Meanwhile, outside the exam halls, Kakashi, Asuma and Kurenai wonder how their teams are doing. The note that Ibiki is Konoha ANBU's interrogation and torture squad leader and is an expert in mental torture. They are certain that Ibiki is giving the examinees a tough time. Ibiki then explains that they are given the decision to take the 10th question or not. However, the catch is if you not to take it, you will fail and thus, your entire team fails as well. On the other hand, if you decide to take the 10th question and fail it, you will lose the privilege of ever taking the Chuuni Exam again and will remain a Genin forever. One after another, examinees leave the room. Naruto slowly raises his hand but only to slam it down at the last moment. Naruto then states that he's come this far and no matter what the outcome, he will take the question. Naruto's outburst wipes off everyone else's uncertainty and 78 Genins remain. Ibiki announces that everyone in the room passes and there is no such thing as the 10th question. He then explains the purpose of the test. The pass/fail decision of the entire team was created to put heavy pressure on the Genins. The second thing is the test was made way too hard for Genins to answer and was actually created to test their ability to gather information through stealth and techniques. The 10th question is made to be similar to a real life situation of a shinobi where decisions regarding your life are to be made. He continues that shinobi missions are always risky and courage and confidence are a necessity of a Chuunin who will hold steadfast to their decisions. Suddenly, an examiner breaks through the window and announces the second exam examiner, Mitarashi Anko is here. After observing that 78 remains from a total of 153, she tells Ibiki that he has lost his touch and has become too lenient but vows that she will reduce the number to less than half. The following morning, the remaining participants gather at the 44th training area "The Forest of Death."

Ibiki after entering the room reprimands the Sound Team for their attack. He states that nobody is allowed any fighting unless permission is given. Even if permission is given, nobody is allowed to kill. If anyone does so, they will fail the exam. The first exam is paper test. Naruto getting all tensed up until Hinata who was sitting next to him encourages him. Ibiki then moves on to explain the rules.

1. Each participant starts off with 10 points. The test consists of 10 questions each worth 1 point. The test is deductive therefore if you get all questions right, you remain with 10 points and if you mis-answer 3, you are left with 7 points.
2. The pass or fail decision is determined on the teams' total points.
3. Anyone caught cheating will have 2 points deducted. Anyone that is left with 0 points will fail the test.
4. Any team member that fails, the entire team will fail.
5. The last question of the test will be given on the 45th minute after the test starts.
6. The test will last for 1 hour.

Moments after the test starts, Sasuke realize that the test's purpose is not to be able to answer the questions, but to be able to cheat without getting caught. Naruto being the dumb one of the team struggles. Sakura, the only one knowing how to answer the questions starts doing it. As some ninjas starts to use their jutsus to cheat, Naruto begins to flip out as he doesn't know any of the questions. Hinata then offers to let him copy her answers but Naruto refuses realizing that one of the Examiners notices what Hinata might be doing. As the test continues, more and more people starts to use their techniques to acquire answers to the tests.

As Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto moves towards the exam hall they met Kakashi. Kakashi then reveal that the exam can only be taken in a group of 3 and he acted to let them decide on their own for if he told them, Sasuke and Naruto would pressure Sakura in to participating. After entering the hall, they were greeted by the other Rookie 9. Rookie 9 consist of 3 teams; Kakashi's Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto, Asuma Sarutobi's Shikamaru, Ino and Chouji and lastly Kurenai's Hinata, Kiba and Shino. After the Genins chatted bout each other, they were approach by another Genin, Yakushi Kabuto who has participated in the Chuunin Exams 7 times but failed. He then advices the rookies about the exams and points out that he has gathered many information over the period of years while taking out a deck of cards. Sasuke then request information on Gaara of the Sand and Rock Lee of Konoha. Kabuto states that Rock Lee is an expert Taijitsu martial artist but has almost nil ability in Ninjitsu and Genjitsu. Gaara on the other hand is mysterious and his exact techniques are unknown. However, he returns from all his missions without a single scratch. Meanwhile, outside the hall, Kakashi is having second thoughts about his decision of letting Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto participate in the Chuunin Exam. Kabuto then warns the rookies they should keep a low profile but Naruto being his loud self shouts at the top of his voice to everyone else in the hall that he won't lose to any of them. The Sound Team annoyed by Kabuto's statement of their small village decides to attack him. One of the Sound Genins throws a punch at Kabuto but Kabuto manage to avoid being hit directly. However, Kabuto's glasses broke and he fell to his knees and vomit. The Sound shinobis then state that they are called the Sound Village for the particular reason that they utilises "sound" for their attacks and there is practically no way to escape sound. Soon, Morino Ibiki the head examiner for the first exam of the Chuunin Exam shows up.

Rock Lee, who was the Genin being pushed around earlier by the Examiners is interested in fighting Sasuke. His reason not merely wanting to test his skills against an Uchiha but also he's trying to impress Sakura who he has a crush on. Rock Lee blows kisses and hearts to Sakura who dodges it with her life. Naruto feeling left out offers to take Sasuke's place in the fight and rushes to attack Rock Lee. Rock Lee manages to block Naruto's attack easily and Sasuke is impressed. Thus, Sasuke accept Rock Lee's challenge. Sasuke attacks but was knocked back by Rock Lee as if Sasuke was nothing more of a small obstacle. Sasuke feeling threatened now activates the Sharingan and charges again. However, once again, Sasuke's attacks were futile. Sasuke then sense that Rock Lee's attacks aren't Ninjitsu nor Genjitsu but mere Taijitsu. Although the Sharingan was able to see the moves, Sasuke was not able to keep up with Rock Lee's extreme speed. Rock Lee then moves to finish off Sasuke with the Shadow Dance but was stopped by a large turtle appearing from no where. The turtle scolds Rock Lee for attempting to use a Forbidden Technique and at the end, Gai Sensei appears. Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto stares in ridicule as a person who's weirder looking that Rock Lee appears and punches Rock Lee hard in the face. Gai asked how's Kakashi doing and notes that he's Kakashi's eternal rival. Rock Lee then states that he's actually not the strongest in his team, Hyuuga Neji is. Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura admits that they require a lot more training before being able to defeat such shinobis but states the Chuunin Exam is going to be interesting.

From the last episode, Gaara appears from no where next to Sasuke without Sasuke sensing him. Gaara stops Kankurou from wasting effort on the brats (Konohamaru and Naruto especially). Gaara was also impressed of the ability Sasuke to injure Kankurou with a little pebble. We soon find out that these three shinobis are from Village of the Sand and they are named Gaara (the one that appear beside Sasuke), Kankurou (the one with face markings and grabbed Konohamaru) and Temari (the girl with the huge fan). The 3rd Hokage asks Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma whether they think their teams are eligible for the Chuunin Exam and all 3 of them says their teams are ready for the exam. Iruka objects stating that Naruto isn't ready yet. Gai even backs Iruka but it could be just personal competition between himself and Kakashi so he doesn't want Kakashi's team to be better than him. However, Kakashi stands firm to his decision telling Iruka that Naruto is now his student and not Iruka's anymore. Next morning, after long waiting, Kakashi arrives late at the meeting point again and hands each of them the application form for the Chuunin Exam. Sasuke and Naruto are both anxious about it but Sakura seems a little uncertain. After Naruto finished his mission, he met Konohamaru and the Konohamaru Corps. While talking to them, a shinobi appeared from no where and capture Moegi. He demands the Scroll of Sealing. Naruto then defeats him with the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu and saves the day. On the same day, Sasuke asks Sakura out for a walk with him. Sasuke tells Sakura to quit the Chuunin exams as he thinks she's not ready yet. She's happy that Sasuke is concerned bout her. Suddenly a shinobi appears and hold a kunai against Sasuke's neck and ask Sakura to quit the exam. She tells him that everything is just a simple illusion trick because she knows Sasuke will never ask her out. With that the shinobi withdraws from the area. Iruka then appears on a roof and reports to Kakashi that indeed all the "rookie nine" is prepared for the exam. Back at the Academy 2 bullies were making a scene as trying to stop people from going into the examination room. Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura arrive and Sasuke states that it's an obvious Genjitsu trick and even his teammate, Sakura notices it. Sasuke then attacks the bully but was stopped by Rock Lee. Sasuke was shocked that his kick was being stopped so easily. Everyone introduce themselves then head on their own way. The bullies transform back into Examiners and it seemed that they were only testing the rookies.

Waking up in the morning, Naruto have his breakfast then makes his way to the bridge to meet the rest of Team 7. Kakashi arrives late as usual. They were given D class missions and Naruto tries to beat Sasuke in everything but always end up in a disaster. While weeding a garden of herbs, Naruto tried rushing and un-earthed the herbs as well, while cleaning the river, he trips and nearly fell over the waterfall but was saved by Sasuke and while walking the dogs, Naruto just have to pick the largest dog and was walked by the dog instead into a mine field. At the end of the day, Kakashi sends them home. As Sasuke walks off home, Sakura ask him whether if he would like to practice with her. Sasuke replied that she should practice with Naruto since she's the "same" as Naruto. Inner Sakura was seen crushed with a large rock. Sasuke then corrected himself saying she is actually "lower" than Naruto. Inner Sakura get crushed even more by the boulder. A box with 2 holes that is supposed to be a rock moves towards Naruto. (Anyone should know by now that there's only one person in the entire Konoha with such lousy camouflage ability) The box explodes revealing Konohamaru, Moegi and Udon; the Konohamaru Corps. Sakura walks up and punches Naruto to the floor. Konohamaru being shocked that his leader is being grounded called Sakura and ugly bitch. Maddened, Sakura chases them. Konohamaru bumps into two weird looking shinobis that weren't from Konoha as their forehead protector reveals. The guy lifted Konohamaru and called him a brat. Naruto attack him but was tripped suddenly by something. Sasuke interferes by shooting a small stone at his hand making him drop Konohamaru. Another sand shinobi appears beside Sasuke without Sasuke realizing. His name is Gaara. He tells the other two shinobi that they should get going and just as about to leave, Sakura intercepts asking why they were in Konoha. The female shinobi of the group shows her their traveling documents and stated that they in Konoha for the Chuunin Exam. As they move away, Sasuke ask for Gaara's name and vice versa. The 3rd Hokage announces the Chuunin exam will begin within a week on the 1st of July.

Gatou arrives with his men and states that he no longer requires Zabuza. Zabuza apologizes to Kakashi for the earlier fights but the fight ends now as he no longer have a reason to fight Kakashi. Gatou walks toward Haku's lifeless body and kicks it. Naruto angered screams at Gatou and runs towards him but was stopped by Kakashi. Zabuza tells Naruto that Haku is already dead and he was only using him as a tool for he wanted his bloodline limit. Naruto protested telling him of Haku affection and love towards him and it is just too cruel to allow him to die as merely a tool. Naruto's words touched Zabuza and tears fall from his eyes. He asks Naruto for a kunai and then charge at Gatou and his men holding the kunai with his teeth. He cuts through Gatou's men and reveals to Gatou that he will show him the reason he's known as a devil back home. Finally making his way though the horde of men with swords and spears sticking into him, he approaches Gatou. After telling Gatou about his end, Zabuza kills him. As he walks back towards Haku, Gatou's men make way for him. Zabuza says goodbye to Haku then falls down on the floor. Naruto looks away in sadness but Kakashi tells him not to for it is a death of a shinobi who has led a difficult life and should show respect. Sasuke regains consciousness and realizes that Haku didn't intended to kill them in the first place. Suddenly Gatou's men interrupted stating that they have killed the person that pays them and they want revenge. Just as they were charging, Inari and the town's people arrive and make a stand for their village. Naruto and Kakashi use Kage Bunshin to seemingly increase their numbers and Gatou's men retreated in fear. Kakashi move Zabuza beside Haku as it was Zabuza's last dying wish to see Haku's face. As Zabuza lay down beside Haku, he mentions that he always cared for Haku even though it never seemed so. Zabuza tries to touch Haku's face with his last strength and wished that he could go to the same place as Haku is going but it would be impossible. Snow falls even though it's not the right season and Zabuza feels that Haku is crying then dies. As Kakashi and Team 7 bury Zabuza and Haku, Naruto vows never to be a mere killing tool and will follow his way of ninja (Always keep to his word). The bridge was finally completed and as the shinobis makes their way home, Tazuna named the bridge as Naruto Big Bridge hoping that someday it will be a world famous bridge.

Back in the Wave Country, Inari goes around trying to gather people to fight against Gatou. He approaches his neighbour, Mr Giichi but Giichi denies him help. Giichi's wife then says that it's possible that Inari is more of a man that Giichi is. Inari has realized the will to fight that both Naruto and his father possesses and Naruto's advice of never to give up. Inari keeps going to other houses and try to get help. Sensing the danger Zabuza is in, Haku continuously taunt Naruto to kill him. Naruto finally draws his kunai and charge at Haku but was deflected and knock off. Haku then teleport in front of Zabuza taking the hit from Kakashi's Chidori, Zabuza smiles. Inari puts on some armour and prepares to go to the bridge alone. Although his mother tried to stop him, he replied that he must protect what he loves and that the village is theirs. Back on the bridge, the mist slowly clears away and Naruto sees that Haku has been deeply wounded by the attack from Kakashi. Haku is dead and Zabuza takes the opportunity to attack Kakashi but Kakashi manage to leap away carrying Haku. Sakura sees Naruto on the far side of the bridge and asks about Sasuke but Naruto in tears was unable to reply. Tazuna and Sasuke ran past Naruto who wasn't even able to give eye contact. Sakura sees Sasuke's lifeless body on the floor and cries. Sakura recites one of the rules of being a shinobi that a shinobi must never let his or her own feelings overcome them. Zabuza and Kakashi continue to fight but Zabuza was unable to keep up as the mist has cleared and Kakashi has the upper hand now. Just then, Gatou and his men emerge on the bridge.

Continuation from the last episode where Kyubi's Chakra was released from Naruto, Naruto starts attacking Haku. Though Haku tries to attack Naruto, it was useless as the Chakra deflected his attacks. Back outside, Kakashi sensing the danger of Kyubi's Chakra and the possibility that the seal could have been broken, asked Zabuza to end the fight. In the mirror, Haku tries desperately to avoid Naruto by moving from one mirror to another but was intercepted by Naruto and knocked out of the mirrors with a powerful punch. Out of the mirror, Haku can barely stand and Naruto charges as he was about the end the match, Haku's mask came off revealing the boy he met earlier in the forest and couldn't bring himself to killing him. Haku requested Naruto to end his life as he is unable to realize Zabuza's dreams in the weak state he's in. Haku reveals his past, where he was born in a small snowy village in the Water Country. His mother have the same advance bloodline as he does but she tries to keep it a secret from everyone as those with advance bloodline during those days were feared and hunted down by the locals and killed. Unfortunately, it was exposed eventually and Haku was left to fend for himself, killed everyone including his father. That's when Zabuza found him and took care of him and pledge loyalty to Zabuza forever. Back to the fight between Zabuza and Kakashi, Kakashi summons a pack of dogs which attacks Zabuza. Kakashi reveals to Zabuza that even during a fight where vision and sound is nil, there's still the sense of smell and those attacks Zabuza made on him earlier allows the dogs to track him. Kakashi then says that Zabuza has gone too far and this is the end for him. Kakashi reveals for the first time his signature jutsu Chidori or known also as Raikiri (Lightning Edge). Haku keeps asking Naruto to kill him but Naruto refuses thinking that he can talk some sense into Haku. Haku then sense that Zabuza is in danger.

In this episode we see that Naruto and Sasuke stills battle Haku in the Ice prison and trying to find a way to escape outside. Naruto keeps using Kage Bunshin no Jutsu and tries to charge his way out while Sasuke observes closely with the Sharingan but were only stopped by Haku's needles. Back outside on the bridge, Zabuza attacks Tazuna but was managed to be stopped by Kakashi though Kakashi himself was hurt by Zabuza's huge blade. Back in the Ice Mirrors, Naruto and Sasuke keeps trying the same strategy over and over again and Haku realizes that his moves are being watched slowly by Sasuke. Back to the battle scene between Kakashi and Zabuza, Zabuza moves back into the thick mists after managing to hurt Kakashi. Sakura gets nervous about Sasuke and Naruto but Kakashi calms her down by saying that he has faith in them. Again in the mirror, after numerous tries, Sasuke manages to use Katon on Haku and knocks him down but Haku manage to minimize the damage in the last minute and hits Sasuke with some needles. Haku realizes that he needs to defeat them fast and tries to attack Naruto first. Sasuke jumps into the way and takes the hit for Naruto. Naruto opening his eyes couldn't believe what Sasuke has done for him and burst into emotions. Haku responds that Sasuke's acts were of an honorable shinobi's and deserves respect. Naruto furious burst into rage and a great pillar of red Chakra towers. The Chakra then takes the form of the Nine Tailed Demon Fox.

Kakashi tells Sakura that even if Naruto and Sasuke manage to defeat Haku's technique, they don't have the heart to kill him. Sakura screams in frustration while Kakashi decides to end it with his Sharingan. Just as Kakashi was to attack, Zabuza made the first move and tries to stab his eye. Kakashi manage to avoid direct hit but did took of some injuries. Zabuza tells that Haku's techniques were all taught by him but Haku's ability currently surpasses his own. Back in the mirror, Naruto continues to attack Haku with replicas again and again. Sasuke begins to see the movements of Haku and attempts to interfere with Haku's movements by kicking in some water. Zabuza explains that this battle won't be the same as the previous for the first time, he had Haku observing Kakashi's Sharingan from afar and has analysed his techniques. Zabuza says that the Sharingan doesn't see the future but instead uses Genjutsu on the opponent and hypnotises him and by keeping from eye contact, the Sharingan is useless. Zabuza then increases the thickness of the mist and tells Kakashi that he's called the Silent Killer for the reason that he's able to kill by sound alone. Sasuke tells Naruto to get outside and Naruto charges for the exit, Haku tries to stop Naruto, Sasuke fires a fireball at Haku but misses and Naruto was thrown back. Haku decides to attack this time, going for Sasuke first. Back outside, in the heavy mist, Kakashi is unable to see anything and tries to figure what Zabuza will do. He realizes the Zabuza will attack Tazuna and heads to save him. The episode ends with blood splattering all over.

The episode begins with some recap of how Naruto became a ninja and their journey to the Wave Country. Back where we left off in the last episode, Naruto makes an appearance and announce that he will save the day. Being a loud-mouth as usual then tries to make a seal for his Shadow Replica technique but was immediately attacked by Zabuza's shurikens. Haku seeing that knocks down the shuriken thrown by Zabuza with his needles. Kakashi yells at Naruto for being an idiot stating that even to make a simple jutsu, a ninja is suppose to confuse his opponent first. As Zabuza questions Haku about the interference, Haku requests that he have the fight his own way. Zabuza agrees but tells Haku that he's being too soft. Kakashi wants to aide his students but if he does, Zabuza will be able to kill Tazuna easily. Haku then re-enters the mirrors and attacks Sasuke. Naruto is still outside uncertain of what to do. Kakashi and Sakura think that if Sasuke was to attack from the inside and Naruto attacks from the outside, they might just be able to break Haku's technique. Sasuke has the same thoughts. Stupidly, Naruto enters the mirrors and squat beside Sasuke surprising him. Naruto states that the secret to winning a fight is the act of a surprise. Sasuke yelled at him saying that what good is that to surprise as ally? Kakashi and Sakura both dumbfounded by Naruto's act of foolishness. Kakashi tells Tazuna that's Naruto for you, he comes to help but makes the situation worse for others. Back in the mirror, Haku attacks both Sasuke and Naruto easily. Naruto furious creates replicas and attacks all the mirrors simultaneously but to no avail. Haku then explains that the mirror acts as a reflecting point to Haku and his speed is as fast as a reflection. Kakashi states that Haku's ability is a bloodline limit like the Sharingan in which case the Sharingan is unable to copy it. Haku then has a flashback of the time when he met Zabuza when he was still a small child. Haku tells Sasuke and Naruto that he doesn't want to kill them but if they fight him, he will have no choice. Haku states that he will do anything to protect Zabuza and his dreams.

Sasuke confronted Haku while the others watched from afar. Back at Tazuna's place, Inari's mother was taken hostage by the two henchmen. Inari then remembers the word of Naruto and vows to be stronger. Inari yells at the henchmen to let his mother go. The henchmen draw their swords and charged at Inari. Back at the bridge, Sasuke and Haku continues to battle and it seems that both of them are almost equal in abilities. Back at the house, Naruto arrives just in time to replace Inari with some logs and rescue both Inari and his mother. Naruto then tells that he saw the suspicious marks left by the two henchmen leading towards the house as he was heading towards the bridge. The two henchmen attack Naruto but were taken out easily. As Naruto and Inari ties them up, Naruto and Inari bonds further. Sasuke and Haku continues to fight and after a while, it was determined that Sasuke was better in speed that Haku. Zabuza seemed shocked by the fact that Haku has lost in speed. Naruto then leaves everything to Inari and heads back to the bridge. Back at the bridge, Haku shows Sasuke his bloodline limit and created ice mirrors around Sasuke. Kakashi was about to help Sasuke when Zabuza blocks his path. Sakura throws a kunai for Sasuke to use but Haku caught it before it could reach Sasuke. Just then, the number one most noisy, show-offy ninja appears and knocks Haku out of the ice mirro

The episode starts with a girl collecting herbs in the forest. We realize that this girl is actually Haku when he recalled the time when Naruto screamed at him for killing Zabuza back in the first encounter. As Naruto was lying there on the floor unconscious, Haku moves up slowly and seemed them he was going to choke Naruto to death, woke him up instead. A flashback of Haku appears showing how Haku met Zabuza in the first place. Haku then had a conversation with Naruto and told him that only when he is protecting someone he cares about will he be truly strong. Haku then walks away and tells Naruto that he's actually a boy. Naruto shocked thinking to himself that how could he be more beautiful that Sakura. Naruto did not return for breakfast and Sasuke went looking for him. It was shown then that both Sasuke and Naruto has managed to control their Chakra well. Later, Tazuna asks Kakashi why he stayed even though he had lied to them. Kakashi quoted from the 1st Hokage that to abandon one's duty is not courageous and below courageous is nothing. Inari then had a flashback of his father then asks them why they try so hard to go against Gatou and started crying. Naruto screamed at Inari then told him that he's being weak and a character like him should go on crying forever. Kakashi later went and talk to Inari, telling him that the words of Naruto are actually an advice to him. Kakashi told Inari that Naruto was a loner since he was born and he never cried or complained bout it. He tells that Naruto truly understand the meaning of being strong and that the word he told Inari earlier were probably the same he tells himself numerous times. The next morning, the group left without Naruto allowing him to rest. When Naruto work up, he learnt that the group has left without him and races after them. Arriving at the bridge, all the other working lay there unconscious and wounded. As the bridge became misty, Kakashi realize that Zabuza is still alive. Zabuza attacks with water clones but Sasuke takes them all down. Two henchmen made their way to Tazuna's house and as Naruto hurried to the bridge, saw some suspicious environment.

The episode starts as Sakura watches over Tazuna as he continues building the bridge while Sasuke and Naruto continues their training in the forest and it reveals that Naruto is slowly catching up on Sasuke. One of the workers decides to quit telling Tazuna that he too might be targeted by Gatou. After work, Tazuna along with Sakura goes to the town to buy some supplies and Sakura sees how poor the country actually is. Tazuna then sells Sakura that it happens when Gatou arrives in the country of the Wave, the adults lost hope and that's the whole reason to the importance of the bridge. Back in the forest, Naruto and Sasuke continues to train and Sasuke asked Naruto about the tip he asked from Sakura earlier. Naruto refused telling Sasuke in a cheeky way. Later back and Tazuna's house, Sasuke and Naruto can still be seen competing, even on eating. Sakura notices a picture with the face of a man ripped from it and hence asked Tazuna about it. Tazuna told them it was Inari's father. Inari hearing that got upset and left the dining room. Tazuna then further explains that though the man was not connected by blood, he was close and Inari considers him as his real father. This man was called Kaiza. Kaiza became the "hero" of the country as many times he proves to put his life in danger to save the country. Kaiza opposed Gatou and his crude way. He was finally executed by Gatou. Inari who saw the execution with his own eyes became so saddened that he lost faith and the teachings of Kaiza believing that his father was a liar and heroes does not exist. Naruto after hearing the story wants to prove that heroes do exist.

The episode continues from the point where Zabuza was attacked with his own technique and was washed far away and stopped as he hit a tree. Kakashi then throws some kunai at him to pin him down. As Kakashi tells Zabuza that his future is death and was about to kill him, Haku attacks Zabuza at the neck with needles. Appearing for a while and having a short conversation with Kakashi and Naruto then disappearing with Zabuza's body. Kakashi falls unconscious after that and we now know that using the Sharingan causes great strain to the body. Kakashi sense that Zabuza could be alive and the Hunter-Nin (Haku) was just an imposter. Kakashi then decided to train the team on how they could control their Chakra better and sets off to the forest. He shows the Genins how to place their Chakra at their feet and resumes walking up a tree vertically. At the first try, Sakura was the best and reach the top, Sasuke second and Naruto crappy as usual. The second half of the episode reveals finally Haku's real identity as he revives Zabuza from his pretend death.

n this episode, we future see the powers of Kakashi and the amazing Sharingan eye during the battle with Zabuza. The first appearance of Haku in this episode as a Hunter-Nin (his name was not yet reveal as he was watching the fight from a distance) Sasuke watch in disbelief as Kakashi uses the Sharingan without difficulty. A long battle between Kakashi and Zabuza when finally Kakashi uses the Sharingan to copy the ultimate move of Zabuza (seeing into the future, although at this point there was no concrete evidence that the Sharingan has the ability to see the near future) The episode end as Kakashi unleashes Zabuza's ultimate water technique and washes him away.

Kakashi manages to get to Tazuna in time to protect him but it turns out that it was a Water Clone of Zabuza that appears from behind and attacks Kakashi. Kakashi leaps backwards into the water only to realize it was a bad mistake when Zabuza entraps Kakashi with his Water Prison technique. Kakashi ordered the team to run away but Naruto being the stubborn type attacks Zabuza's Water Clone. Naruto was knocked back and lost his forehead protector. Zabuza then said that they are not qualified to be a ninja while stepping on Naruto's forehead protector. Kakashi then tells of the Mist's Village's graduation exam which is completely different from Leaf Village's. The exam requires students to fight each other to the death. However, it was changed after an incident where a student killed and massacred more than 100 other students of the Mist Village. That student was Zabuza. Naruto fearing Zabuza now wanted to run away but has a flashback when he feels the pain in his arm. He recalls the time where Iruka sensei gave him his forehead protector and the time where he promised on the injury of his arm that he will never run away again. Naruto then attacks Zabuza but was thrown back again. However, he manages to retrieve his forehead protector. Using the Shadow Replica technique, Naruto attempts to attack Zabuza and was thrown back. As he was falling back, he shouted at Sasuke and throws a giant shuriken for Sasuke to use. Sasuke then attacks Zabuza with it. As Zabuza's clone manages to deflect the shuriken, it turned out that there was another shuriken hidden in its shadow which headed towards the real Zabuza. Zabuza easily avoided the shuriken but as the shuriken passed him, it turns out to be Naruto disguised as a shuriken and throws a kunai at him. Zabuza moved away quickly releasing his grasp on Kakashi's Water Prison. Zabuza then charges at Naruto to attack him but was stopped by Kakashi just in time.

This episode is mainly a battle episode. After the conversation scene between Gatou and Zabuza, Gatou claiming that he does not pay missing nins to fail in the assassination mission. Thus, Zabuza states that he will see to it himself. As Team Seven arrives at Country of the Wave, they see a huge bridge that's partially build. Tazuna continues his explanation about why the bridge is badly needed. Tazuna then uses reverse psychology on Kakashi stating that is Kakashi refuses the mission to protect him, he will definitely die leaving his daughter and grandson alone and they will be extremely sad. As they finally arrive in Wave Country, Zabuza appears with a thick mist and attacks the group. Kakashi reveals his Sharingan and Sasuke is totally shocked for the Sharingan is a unique feature that only the Uchiha clan possess. It appears that Zabuza is known as the Silent Killer and Kakashi the Copy Ninja. A high Jounin level battle takes place between the two and the episodes ends abruptly as Zabuza suddenly appears from no where and attack Tazuna.

The episode starts off with Team Seven trying to accomplish their first task. It looks like they are trying to capture something dangerous at first, but it turns out only to be a cat. Eventually, the team got fed up with Class D missions and Naruto sulked when he confronted with the Hokage to obtain their next mission. They were finally granted a C Class mission, to protect a person, Tazuna, a bridge builder from the Wave Country. Tazuna seemed displeased when he found out that his bodyguards are kids. Nevertheless, he eventually accepted them and they set off to the Wave Country. On their way there, they were attacked by a duo, The Demon Brothers. Naruto was injured as he was stunned on the spot when the duo tore Kakashi to shreds. Sasuke being the cool one was the only ninja able to confront the attackers. Kakashi appeared at the last battle scene and defeat the attackers as the thing they tore to shred earlier was just a replacement. Kakashi requested Tazuna about the attacker and Tazuna finally admitted that he's the prime target of Gatou, an evil person who's harassing the Wave Country into poverty. Tazuna is building a bridge that will bring hope to the country and drive Gatou away as he's a ship merchant. Upon Tazuna's explanation, it seems that the mission is more of a B Class than a C Class mission. Tazuna explained that the Wave Country is poor and is unable to pay the extras for a B Class mission. Though Kakashi wanted to return to Konoha to give Naruto treatment on his injuries, Naruto insisted to go ahead to Wave Country and complete the mission. Kakashi realized that Naruto has healed due to the power of the Nine Tailed Fox in him. So they continue their journey.

We last saw Kakashi being hit by the kunais and shurikens thrown by Sasuke but is he still alive? Well, it turned out that it was only a replacement. Sasuke realized that his position has been known thus retreated. Kakashi pursued and a melee battle was seen between the two. Sasuke shows the Uchiha's pattern technique Grand Fire Ball during the battle and manage to touch one of the bells but was unable to get it. Sasuke lost the fight eventually and was buried head deep into the ground by Kakashi. Sakura who later passed that way saw Sasuke buried in the ground screamed, thought to herself that Sasuke is now beheaded and faints. Naruto manage to escape from the trap and tries to steal the food prepared earlier for those who manage to get the bells. Kakashi appears behind Naruto just as he was about to eat and ties him up. Later, the three Genins meet together again as the time set by Kakashi was up. Kakashi announces that none of them were fit to be a ninja. He explains the reason of having 3 in a team was for the mere reason of teamwork. Sakura retaliates stating that if they were meant to work as a team why is there only 2 bells instead of 3? Kakashi explains that in certain situation, a ninja is required to sacrifice his life. He makes his point by placing a knife at Sasuke's neck and tells Sakura to kills Naruto or else Sasuke will die. After that, he gives them one more chance to get the bells. However, they were not supposed to feed Naruto at all or they will be punished severely. Sasuke and Sakura decided to break the rule given and give Naruto some food. Just then Kakashi appears in an angry mood saying that they have broken the rule. Sakura and Sasuke reply that they are a team and no matter what they should work together. Kakashi's mood changes into a happy-go-lucky mood and states that they have passed the test. They do not understand as they have not obtained the bells yet. Kakashi went on to explain that those who break the rule in the world of ninja are considered low but it's even lower if you abandon your teammate. So, everyone was happy and heads on home. Wait someone's left behind.

This episode mainly revolves around Team Seven and their sensei, Kakashi. When they first met Kakashi, they looked down on him as he was late and fell for a simple trap prepared by Naruto. Later, they were asked to introduce themselves. We learn the obvious that Naruto wants to be a Hokage, Sakura just like all the other girls her age is obsessed with Sasuke, Sasuke wants to kill a certain person and Kakashi we learn absolutely nothing bout him except his name. Nevertheless, they were given a test before they are allowed to be a Genin and were required to meet at a certain place early the next morning without breakfast. However, Kakashi as usual turn up hours late as starts the survival test. They were to steal a bell from him with whatever means necessary within a time limit. Naruto being the idiot charged into battle without any prior planning while Sasuke and Sakura hide themselves in wait for an opportunity. Naruto fell into various traps prepared by Kakashi. Kakashi gave Naruto a word of advice before leaving him hanging on the trap "See the beneath of beneath". Meaning things are not always what it seems. As Kakashi was standing there lecturing Naruto, Sasuke sees an opportunity and attacks Kakashi full force with kunais and shurikens. Is Kakashi defeated? Don't miss the next episode of Naruto.

This episode is a continuation of episode 2 after Naruto manages to obtain his ninja title and forehead protector and has to attend the Explanatory Meeting along with the other ninja graduates. The first appearances of Sakura, Ino, Shikamaru, Hinata, Sasuke, Kakashi, Kiba, Shino and Chouji is shown in this episode. The formation of Team Seven; Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto is revealed in this episode as well. The highlight of this episode is the mishap during the very first ironical confrontation between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto and Sasuke ended kissing due to an unforeseen accident. Due to this, Naruto was beaten up severely by all the girls in the class. Because of Sasuke under-estimating Naruto's abilities, Naruto was able to defeat and tie Sasuke up. Naruto then disguised himself as Sasuke to get Sakura to reveal her thoughts about Naruto. Naruto found out that Sakura did not like him very much but as he was disguised as Sasuke, Sakura was about to kiss him. Just when that was about to happen, Naruto has a tummy upset and had to rush to the toilet. It was later revealed that his diarrhea was due to an expired milk he consumed earlier that day.

This episode of Naruto is one of those that have nothing to do with the story, but it's still good and funny. It starts out with Naruto taking a picture for his graduation certificate, and he painted his face like an idiot. It was pretty funny though, anyway, it took him three hours to make that stupid face. The third told him to take it again, but Naruto refused and used his sexy no jutsu. Lurking behind the door was a kid named Konohamaru, he tries many times each day to assisinate his grandfather, the third. Everytime he tries, he'd trip or somehow hurt himself. Konohamaru confronts Naruto and blames him that he had set up a trap, so that angered Naruto into punching the kid. After that, Konoharmu followed Naruto in hopes to make Naruto his boss. Naruto takes Konohamaru as his student and tries to teach him sexy no jutsu. It's pretty funny when Konohamaru tried sexy no jutsu. The two of them ran around town like little perverts studying women. They end up in the forest somewhere and just talked. We then see a scene with Iruka and the third. The third explains to Iruka that everyone sees Naruto as a demon fox, but really should be seen as a hero. Then Konohamaru's sensei shows up and tries to take Konohamaru back. This time when Konohamaru used sexy no jutsu it worked, but it wasn't strong enough to defeat his sensei. As expected, Naruto uses Kage Bunshin no jutsu, but to our surprise, he combined it with sexy no jutsu and it took out Konohamaru's sensei. The episode ends with Konohamaru declaring that Naruto as his rival, but what is truely happening is a start of a wonderful friendship.

A Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha; in a final act to defeat the demon the 4th Hokage sealed its essence within the body of a baby boy whose umbilical cord had just been cut. The child now a young preteen called Naruto Uzumaki attends Ninja Academy; however because of the incident 12 years prior many in the village see him as the demon itself. As a result the only way he can get people's attention is to pull pranks and get in trouble. His dream is to become the greatest Hokage so he can then make the people of Konoha acknowledge his existence and respect him. Naruto's performance in school is less than perfect and the only person who talks to him is his instructor Iruka.

When he fails the exam and doesn't graduate for the third year in a row he is tricked by Mizuki to steal the scroll of forbidden techniques. When Naruto finds out Mizuki's evil plan he runs away in confusion. When Naruto hears Iruka say good things about him he realizes that there is someone who cares about him. So, when Mizuki tries to hurt Iruka, Naruto becomes angry. He then uses a technique he learned from the scroll, called the Shadow Clone Jutsu, and beats up Mizuki. Iruka then gives Naruto the surprise that he graduates the academy. Meanwhile, the Hokage looks on through a crystal ball, smiling.
